Normally, the summer music festival season would be in full swing now, but this year it has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Instead, the Governors Ball Music Festival is pushing the rewind and replay of some memorable sets from the years Thursday and Friday on YouTube.
Thursday’s bill is Travis Scott (8 p.m.) and the Black Keys (9:30 a.m.), while Friday’s lineup includes Post Malone (8 p.m.) and Major Lazer (9:30 a.m.).
The two-night special event has a good cause: spectators are invited to donate what they can to raise funds for the Fair Justice Initiative, the New York Food Bank, and Crew Nation, a global relief fund for the music staff.
Gov Ball 2020 was originally scheduled for the first weekend of June but was canceled in March, one of the many live music victims of COVID-19.
Taking control of Randalls Island, the festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a killer lineup that includes everyone from Missy Elliott, Vampire Weekend, and Miley Cyrus to Tame Impala, Solange, and Stevie Nicks.
But don’t throw away your fanny pack just yet – plans are already materializing for next year. Governors Ball Music Festival 2021 Tickets will be available soon at Tickets4festivals.
“We are moving forward and we are already moving forward with plans for 2021,” said Team Gov Ball. “We send you our love and support and we will see you again in June 2021.”
